Am I The Only Mom Who Hides Out In The Bathroom?
O.K. Fess up.

You need a break from the kids and there is no where to go to be alone...

except maybe...

The Bathroom.

O.K. I said it. I hide in the bathroom from my kids.

I bring in a good book and sit in the tub.

But then I can hear them calling, "Mom!" into each room of the house.

They get closer and closer and closer until they have searched each nook and cranny.

And then...

They find me...

"MOM! Are you in there? I know you are in there! Mom! Mom! Mom! COME OUT!!"

They are relentless.

You could pretend to be an answering machine and say, "You have reached Mom's personal line. No one is available to take your problem right now, but you can leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I reenter reality. BEEEP! Maybe they will laugh and walk away.

When we lived in a two bedroom condo I use to do that so I could have time by myself. The bathroom was big like a small bedroom anyway. Hope you get to take a day off.

When we first brought the boy home I did that. As soon as Derek walked in the door I would run to the bathroom. I like Melissa's idea. That's funny.

Mine often still run to the bathroom with me, when they see me headed in that direction so that doesn't work for me yet. They cry if I lock them out. Thankfully, when the dad's home, I can get a bit of alone time in our bedroom while he is hanging out with them, but I have to lock the door.

Oh I do that too...but I sit on the toilet and stare at the wall. Not as glamorous as a bubbly bath, but it's freedom.

Yep - I take breaks in the bathroom all the time! Usually when I come out, one of the kids is sitting by the door waiting for me.

Oh, I wish the bathroom were private. Slugger knows he just supposed to leave me alone while I'm in there, but he never does. "Please let me pee in peace" is a common saying of mine. He doesn't get it, though. When Peanut was here, he used to sit outside the door and write notes to me. Unfortunately, they were in Russian and I didn't read Russian at the time. I'd get done with a shower and there would be four or five notes and drawings on the bathroom floor.

Jen, my hideout is my walk-in closet. Once, I even fell asleep in there and when I woke up, it was so dark I didn't know where I was! Shhhhh--don't tell anyone.
