Traveled To Russia?
If you have traveled to Russia, stop on over to Adrienne Bashista's Russian Adoption blog and help her out. Read her post and email her with any information you have about your Russian experience, such as, "your impressions of the city and or region, the orphanages, and court, what it was like where you stayed, information about places to eat and shop, and what it was like to travel there. Any history or tourist information would also be helpful. Also, pictures of you or your kids in the region." Her email is: adoptrussiablog@adoptionmail.com .

Thanks!

I will start. I am a stay-at-home mom. I volunteer as a secretary for my church. I am working on a degree in Information Technology/ Systems. I am 34. Adopting from Russia (obviously) requested a 0-24 months old girl. Expecting a referral near the end of June and first travel near the end of July. We have 3 bio sons. Your turn.

I'm a writer, I studied Journalism in college. This doesn't give anyone the liberty to criticize my grammar -- blogging is strictly "stream of concsiousness" writing for me. I was adopting from Russia and should have had my boy home by early June, but you know what happened there. Now I'm not sure if I'm adopting from Russia or domestically. Either way, it will be a child between the ages of 6-9.

I too work as a church secretary, but I actually get paid for it. I have a degree in Horticulture. Putting that to good use. I turn 30 in 31 days. Yikes! I am adopting a 19 mo old boy from Russia. We travelled to Russia the first time in June 2005, the second time in April 2006 and hope to finally bring our boy home in July or August.

I am a private music teacher (piano and music and movement) in my early forties. My husband and I have two bio teenagers who are 14 and 17. We live in New Brunswick, Canada, close to Maine. We are looking to adopt from Ukraine this time next year, funds permitting. It is still early on in our home study but we are hoping to adopt a school-aged sibling pair. When the dust settles after my teaching year ends I intend to begin my own blog...stay posted.

Oops. Forgot my age. Freudian slip, maybe? I'm 33.

I am a stay-at-home mom, homeschooler, and a competitive gymnastics coach. I am 35 years old for a few more months. I have 3 girls, ages 11, 8, and 8; and one boy, age 5(almost 6). My husband and I are adopting twin boys who will be 5 in June. We traveled for trip 1 in mid-April and are waiting on a court date to bring our precious sons home. It sounds like it will be in late July or August. My degree is in Bible with a minor in Education.

I work in insurance. I'm single and 41. My little one is from Russia and she is 2.5 years old. My adoption journey was kinda awful with a lost referral (actually twice, same child) from another country. At the time, Russia was more stable so switched and then everything went smoothly. My daughter was almost 7 mos old when she was adopted and its been the most amazing two years of my life. She is the greatest kid. My parents live near by and they take care of her during the day. THis is a huge blessing. Serena

I'm a part-time telecommuter consultant/part-time SAHM, I'm 34 with a 5 year old son via IVF and constantly struggling to figure out whether we'd have a better chance of getting a real-live kid adopting from Russia vs. another IVF cycle. My degree is in public health.

I'm a SAHM and a part time, unpaid bookkeeper/office guru for the small business we own. I'm turning 30 this year and have two daughters age 5 and 2. We are just starting our adoption from Ethiopia and hope to bring home an infant, or twins, sometime next year.

SAHM... full-time volunteer. My degree is in education/social work. We are adopting 3 from Russia (boy 8, girl 13, girl 14... no they are not sibs...we hosted them last summer.) We have 2 boys... ages 12 & 9... both here thanks to fertility treatments and IVF. I was domestically adopted as an infant, so this is really a "full circle" experience for me. Currently waiting on the call for trip 1 travel date. I am 38... for one more month... and I love this stage in life... honestly!

You have a great blog! Thanks for sharing.

Oh I also volunteer at church every other Sunday in the toddler room and when we bring our child home (providing finances will allow) I plan to be a SAHM and homeschool.

I am 36, and have a degree in accounting. I run the claims department for an HMO in NYC (and yes, it is as exciting as it sounds). After many failed IVF cycles, we are adopting a newborn from Colombia, South America. We hope to travel in September (4 months away, but who's counting?)

I am 39, degree in Computer Science. I just left my career(was with my last company almost 10 yrs) because I couldn't take the stress any more. I do wedding coordination(for the last 11 yrs) for my church which does pay, but not much.

I plan on being a SAHM to our daughter we are adopting from Guatemala. She is now 2 1/2 months old and we are hoping to have her home by the end of Sept. We are going to visit her in a week!

I am a SAHM (temporarily). When I go back to work after close to a year off...a 9-month parental leave (Oh Canada!) and vacation and a short leave of absence, I will return to my job as a Human Resources Manager...maybe at the same place, maybe not. I have a degree in Physical & Health Education...putting that to good use. I am 35.

We were pursuing a Russian adoption of a boy under 18 months until February 27, 2006 when we received a phone call to adopt our son Noah (born the same day) about 20 minutes away from where we live.

I'm an a 40 year old actuary. My degree was in Math / Computer Science. We're waiting for our referral for a girl, up to 18 months old from Russia. After a bit of bonding time, I'll go back to work and my husband will be Mr. Mom.

Hi everyone. I'm Tricia (34 in October) and married to Michael (42 in July). We have been together 3.5 years and married since Aug 2005. We are waiting to begin the process of adopting 2 from Russia, hopefully 2 bio sibling girls ranging from 2-6 years old. We are told infant girls are ~8 months wait; infant boys just a few months & older children are always available. Our agency says that the adoption should take about a year start to finish. I am a Marketing Manager for a biotech company (been there five years). Two degrees: BS Bacteriology and MPhil Molecular Medicine. (Note: each year in school made me dumber, that's why I stopped before PhD or MBA) Wondering what to do after we get the girls home. Would love to be a SAHM mom, but the satisfaction of "earning" money to buy those shoes, or handbag, etc has me pondering what we will do...
